Optum hosted a talk on inclusion and diversity with a focus on women in leadership
June 26, 2020
The Optum analytics inclusion and diversity team, in collaboration with Optum Advisory Services, organized a leadership talk with Sasha Preble, senior director and Gloria Atika, senior consultant on June 4, 2020. The session was hosted by Megan Towle, consultant, and chaired by Asmita Pathak, associate consultant, also from Advisory Services. The topic for discussion was "Women in Leadership," focusing on gender diversity in the workplace.
Both Sasha and Gloria emphasized the value of leaders who empower employees and take an active mentorship role. Gloria shared a personal anecdote of how stepping out of her comfort zone, coupled with the mentorship she received, helped her feel empowered, gain more confidence, make decisions, build best practices, and contribute to the organization’s success. Megan talked about her experiences in working toward creating diversity champions and providing a platform for colleagues to speak freely and feel supported.
Leaders play a crucial role in recognizing true potential and ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to grow. There is always room for everyone to advance in their careers and earn that seat at the table. Having an advocate who believes in you helps the process.
