Optum bags a silver award at the SSON Shared Services & Outsourcing Impact Awards

Optum has won the silver award under the “business transformation impact” category at SSON Shared Services and Outsourcing Impact Awards.

Optum bagged this award for a project aimed at optimizing a claims process that is responsible for resolving escalated claims received from providers.

These claims lead to significant provider abrasion as they involve significant prior rework already received from providers, repeat calls, and even appeals being filed by the providers. Further, it took several days to resolve these issues due to the highly complex nature of transactions.

To solve this problem holistically, the Optum team came together and deployed multiple solutions across the claim lifecycle to process claims first time right, leading to a substantial reduction in escalations. Also, a single-view dashboard was deployed to consolidate data from 40+ screens into a single view. This has allowed the team to achieve efficiency gains and reduce turnaround time.
