Optum India and CanSupport bring care to those who need it most
In a major step toward expanding access to compassionate health care, CanSupport, India’s leading provider of free palliative care, in partnership with Optum India, unveiled two mobile palliative care clinics (MPCCs) from Optum’s Gurgaon office.
This initiative, part of Optum India’s CSR program, aims to deliver free, holistic palliative care services to underserved cancer patients — ensuring dignity, comfort and support for both patients and caregivers.
The MPCCs will offer a comprehensive range of services including medical, nursing, nutritional, psychosocial and financial support. By reducing avoidable hospital visits and aiding reintegration into daily life, these clinics will improve treatment outcomes and quality of life. The vans will operate outside major government hospitals and travel across Delhi to raise awareness about cancer prevention and early referrals for palliative care.
The inauguration was led by Jon Mahrt, CEO of Optum Rx and chief growth officer, Optum; Uma Ratnam Krishnan, managing director, Optum India; and Dr. Ambika Rajvanshi, CEO of CanSupport.
Speaking at the launch, Director Krishnan said, "At Optum India, we believe meaningful change is driven by collaboration and compassion. Guided by our purpose to be a force for good ‘in India, for India,’ this partnership marks a significant step forward in making quality cancer care more accessible to underserved communities."
Dr. Rajvanshi added, "These mobile clinics will help break the misconception that palliative care is only for end-of-life situations, while improving treatment outcomes and supporting caregivers.”
The collaboration underscores a shared mission to bring care closer to those who need it most, combining Optum’s resources with CanSupport’s expertise to create lasting impact.
