Optum Zoom Happy Beats
In a first-of-its-kind initiative that struck a powerful chord with youth across India, Optum Zoom Happy Beats emerged as a transformative campus tour that placed music at the heart of student wellness.
Curated by Optum and Zoom in partnership with Radio Mirchi, the campaign spanned 6 months across 8 leading colleges. Held in 4 cities — Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi — the campaign was a transformational experience for thousands of students. A custom-designed Happy Beats truck travelled with the tour, turning into a vibrant performance stage and interaction zone at each campus.
The campaign was designed to reimagine student mental health and wellness through music. The colleges selected for participation — RV College of Engineering, International Institute of Information Technology, Indian Institute of Science, BV Raju Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Technology, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Shri Ram College of Commerce and Netaji Subhas University of Technology — came alive with performances by bands like Swastik, Kanya and Aatma. The tour also featured high-energy interactions and games with 7 different Radio Mirchi RJs across the campuses.
“Optum Zoom Happy Beats is an innovative extension of our mission, blending music and wellness to connect with young minds. Aimed at college students, the Happy Beats truck signifies the fact that wellness is a journey. Music is a universal connector, and by integrating live performances, interactive games and high-energy engagements, we created a space where students could unwind and enjoy an immersive experience of wellness with entertainment,” said Uma Ratnam Krishnan, a managing director for Optum India.
Students explored chill zones designed for relaxation and engagement, played interactive games centered around self-awareness and stress relief, and participated in on-ground activations anchored by RJs from Radio Mirchi. These RJs brought warmth, relatability and fun to the mix by engaging students with wellness-themed challenges, live shout-outs and impromptu conversations.
Faculty members also stepped in to encourage the students and to share their views on the role of music in overall health and wellbeing, signaling strong institutional support for the campaign’s message.
With over 10,000 students engaged directly and more than 20 million digital impressions, Happy Beats left a lasting echo on college campuses. It was a movement that brought together rhythm and resilience, performance and purpose, proving that sometimes the best medicine for the mind starts with a music beat.
