iFactor 4.0: Accelerating AI-first innovation at Optum

The Optum flagship innovation program, iFactor 4.0, concluded with record-breaking engagement and transformative ideas aimed at shaping the future of healthcare. This year’s edition focused on AI-first solutions aligned to enterprise priorities such as affordability, access, experience and value-based care.

The program saw more than 12,000 participants and 535 idea submissions, reflecting the growing innovation culture within Optum. After rigorous evaluation, top ideas advanced to the prototype stage, delivering proof-of-concept solutions in areas like automation, workforce enablement and consumer-centric care.

Designed as an end-to-end innovation sprint, iFactor 4.0 enabled cross-functional collaboration, rapid ideation and scalable implementation. By fostering creativity and leveraging emerging technologies, the initiative continues to accelerate the Optum mission of building a smarter, more connected healthcare ecosystem.
